Wed 27th April 2022 - Pan Country Park, Newport. GG # 881.

 Bob's Photographs.

Although, due to roadworks, the venue had to change at very short notice... most GGmers managed to find their way to Pan Country Park without too many difficulties. Our task was to continue work done previously by the Wildlife Warrior group by either stacking the cut material into nature piles or dragging it out to be burnt on a bonfire. Excellent progress was made and the whole area looked much tidier by the end of the session. A rather cloudy day with a cool easterly wind holding the temperature down.

Mark did mention that we hope to be returning to the Moorgreen Reservoir site at Cowes next week but this will be confirmed by e-mail closer to the time.

Wed 20th April 2022 - Moorgreen Road Reservoir Park, Cowes - GG # 880.

The pre-session briefing.

Hard at work..!

Tea break.

We found LOADS of these...!

"King Alfred's Cakes"

Looking much tidier.

Just some of the rubbish we collected.

Now...doesn't this look better..?

Another new site for us this week, this time it was at Moorgreen Road Reservoir which is in Cowes. The actual reservoir was drained and filled in many years ago and we were working on the northerly bank, which had become a very overgrown dumping ground. As can be seen from the photos above, a wide range of rubbish was dragged out of the brambles and undergrowth - anything that could be (glass, cans etc) will be recycled - the remainder is destined for the skip! The woodland walk pathway was established and cleared with overhead branches being trimmed back to give easy access. It is planned to open this area to the public at a later date.

Next week we will be out at West Wight continuing with the bamboo removal at Afton Marsh.

Many thanks to Terry for the photographs.

Wed 13th April 2022 - Millennium Green, Ryde. GG # 879.

Mark's Photographs.

The Green was looking good, only a couple of trees had succumbed to winter storms and needed attention.
Newly flowing springs however, had sprung, and were starting to create muddy pools across the network of paths. As you can see we set about digging channels to drain them, and reinstating long forgotten, and blocked pipes!

Next week a new site!

Many thanks to Mark for the photographs and editorial this week 👍
