"Harvesting" in the meadow.
Cutting bramble in the woods.
Trimming back the pathways.
More scything in the meadow area.
Cutting back some of the larger shrubs.
Cleaning out the pond area. (No…it wasn't that wet in the rain!)
Building dead hedging to protect wildlife and establish a
boundary.
Back in the meadow...
One area after clearance.
Above and below…. a job well done!
It was back in August, this year, when we last visited this venue…. and it poured down with rain..! This week it all started reasonably well, over cast but dry, but by 12:00 the heavens opened and we all got a good drenching. Fortunately, we had completed many of the programmed tasks before we all had to run for cover or make a early departure to go home and dry out. The scope of the work can best be described by the captioned photographs above as we were busy across the whole of the site doing a wide range of tasks. We had a good turnout and a considerable amount was achieved in spite of the rather wet ending. Many thanks to the site trustees who came along to work and gave us guidance on what needed attention most.
Many thanks to Sue for taking the excellent photographs this week - they really do show the work we tackled.
