Wed 26th June 2016 - Brading Down LNR. GG # 791.

Terry's Photographs.

Site information for this GG session.

Guess who has the dog biscuits in their pocket..?

Off hunting the dreaded Ragwort.....

....and we found plenty.

By tea break the sun had broken through.

Some of the many "dump points"
(to be collected at a later time).

And..after all that back breaking work...
ICE CREAM....!

A Painted Lady....

and a Marbled White butterfly.

I am sure that anyone who was there, or anyone who reads this blog regularly, are well aware of what is involved when Team GG go pulling that pesky plant...Ragwort...so no explanation of the above is really needed. The session started under leaden skies but by tea break the sun was peeping through and it was a pleasant June day. Yes, PPP is not everyone's favourite exercise but the wonderful views from the Downs more than compensates for what is a rather mundane (but necessary!) task. The large number of filled black bags was testament to the amount of back breaking work put in by the team. This was a well attended session...must have been the good weather and amazing views that attracted everyone.

Many thanks to Terry for the photographs this week.

Wed 12th June 2019 - The Village Green, Yarmouth. GG # 789.

Terry's Photographs.

Old friends meeting up...Merlin and Gizmo...!

and off to work we go...

Goodness me....just where does one start..?

Nice new benches.

By tea break it was starting to warm up a little.

The "arisings" will be collected at a later date.

Some of the areas that were cleared.

Time to pack it all away - before the rain arrives.
Just look at those ominous clouds..!

Working at this site has been a long term favourite for Team GG....especially as we don't have to pay for the parking..! This time we were asked to concentrate our efforts on the tree/hedge area that runs east to west across the green. Everything had become rather grown in and was certainly in need of some "pruning" which in GG terms means lopers and bow saws. All the arisings were carefully piled up, in various places, ready for disposal at a later date. The session started rather cool for a mid June day but once work got underway then the top layers were soon discarded. As a bonus, we also did a site wide litter pick which really wasn't that difficult to do - Yarmouth residents seem to be a particularly tidy bunch when it comes to littering...Well Done 👍. With a forecasted yellow met warning for thundery rain stating at 13:00, we were lucky to have it dry throughout.

Many thanks to Terry for the photographs this week.
